Angeles Arrien

Angeles Arrien 1940-2014

“The Tarot is a visual map of consciousness and a symbolic system that offers insight into professional contribution, personal motives, and spiritual development of each individual.”   – Angeles Arrien, The Tarot Handbook

imagesConnecting Tarot’s major trumps with numerology is a brilliant marriage of two metaphysical systems, developed by Angeles Arrien around 1972, as taught in her 1987 publication, The Tarot Handbook. In that writing, Arrien introduced what she simply called “The Tarot Profile Methodology — Life-time symbols and current Growth Symbol and Cycle.” Today, this technique of working with the cards is often called “Tarot Numerology.”

Arrien studied the relationship between her subject’s birthdate and the corresponding Life-time symbol from major arcana cards that represent inherent potential and purpose in life. This correspondence makes sense to me since one’s birthdate in numerology signifies your life lesson while each major trump is a law or lesson of life. Arrien emphasized the core archetype of each major card as it reflects to the viewer key psychological and spiritual principles, one’s personal mythology.

“…symbols function as dynamic energy in tangible ways, that they convey meaning to the psyche, and that they point beyond themselves to the reality that they represent.” – Angeles Arrien, The Tarot Handbook

Carl Jung’s psycho-spiritual approach to examining human potential was embraced by Arrien in her own studies as a cultural anthropologist, and referenced in her writing as she describes her view of Tarot and its life-enhancing guidance in our lives.

“Archetypes are structure-forming elements within the unconscious. Their form or image appear in both individual imagination as well as the mythologies of cultures.” – Carl G. Jung

It was my privilege to study with Angeles Arrien in 1988, initiating my exploration of this profound psycho-spiritual system. Others wonderful Tarot luminaries who have been graced by Arrien’s teachings include Mary Greer, James Wanless, Arthur Rosengarten and Carrie Paris. Since then, I have developed this work further and excited to now offer what I have discovered.

“Going to a Meeting” – Tarot Meetups

Denver, Colorado

Denver, Colorado

This October I found myself in Denver, Colorado, for a few weeks. My mother had unexpectantly died and I was there to support family and her friends as we all reeled from the sadness and celebration of her transition.

I needed to get out of the house to care for my well-being. I noticed I kept using this phrase, “I’m going to a meeting” as I borrowed rides or cars to get around. It occurred to me after the second time I used that line that they might think I was headed to an Alcoholic’s Anonymous (AA) meeting. Not in my case, but the meetings I attended shared the same value of serving my spiritual needs.

My reprieve from my mother’s after life duties was attending Denver Tarot Meetup (DTM) meetings and “Socials.” Denver is one of the three largest Tarot meetup communities in the world, with about nine gatherings a month offered all over the greater Denver area. This Tarot and metaphysical oasis has been a favorite stop for me on my annual Tarot Tour. Denver is very centrally located when flying around the USA. The DMT organizing team; Joy Vernon, Sherry Shone, Renna Shesso, Sherry Padillo, Linda Bean, Jason L, and other helpful souls, has always offered me a warm welcome and a guest spot teaching in their meetings.

HangedMan-cardIn all, I attended five meetings, each with exercises and lessons that supported my need to be introspective or to share with like spirits. At a time so close to Samhain or Halloween, I received needed messages for guidance, highlighting my “Hanged One” experience, life turned upside, down.

I send out my love and gratitude to Joy and all the wonderful souls who kept my spirits up during a very trying time. I look forward to exploring and sharing Tarot and metaphysical wisdom with you for years to come.

Death Day Card

In Tarot Numerology, we always look to our “Birth Cards” aka “Life Cards” to reflect our life purpose and challenges. By aligning with the lessons of these cards and their archetypal wisdom, we can tap into our true potential in this lifetime.

A Birth Card is set on one’s birth date, signifying the character of that life. This profile system can also be applied to reveal the theme for entities, such as events, businesses, as well as relationships. Another way of thinking about this is viewing it as a “creation myth”…why this entity came into being. This understanding can lend meaning to one’s life or the focus of the entity.

bhlqromagical-trio-film-oregon-country-fair-71An event example I share in my classes is the Life Card reading I did for the Oregon Country Fair, where readers such as myself and Carrie Paris enjoy working with the wacky, wonderful, folks who attend. My dear friend, LB Johnson, is a fabulous videographer who created her film, The Magical Trio, based on the phrase I use to describe these three Birth Cards; The Magician, The Wheel of Fortune, and The Sun (1-10-19). She weaves my reading of each card’s meaning with the footage of this magical fair.

After 30 years of studying the many faces and uses of what I call, “Pathworking with Tarot Numerology” I have discovered new and deeper connections to how Tarot reflects our path and purpose in life. One of my realizations is that the date of death is the omega to the alpha of one’s Life Card. The “Death Day Card” can represent the tone one’s life ended upon, whether their potential was actualized or left in the shadows, or speaks to the challenges in one’s next incarnation.

For this example I used someone who was born with the Hermit/Moon Life Card cluster. For the purpose of this weblog, here is a brief interpretation of these archetypes as Birth Cards, then, I extend that lifelong potential to it’s completion as represented by the Death Day Card.

36d1628cec040f4e969ee8b8807c430d

774d9ab8b4bbf53c03658b0f78598ceaA Hermit/Moon Birth Card can speak to a life purpose resonating with being, rather than doing. Who they are overshadows what they do. Hermit’s focus is more internal, reflective, self-centered or self-aware, with the Moon element inviting them to bring deep karmic issues to the surface for resolution.

In this example, this Hermit/Moon person’s Death Day Card was also the Hermit, but the Moon was their “shadow” or “hidden factor” card, as described by Mary Greer in her book, Who are you in the Tarot?. My quick observation is that this person was born with the potential to raise awareness of old, life-challenging issues, bringing them to light…but chose to ignore them, thus leaving their issues in the shadow of the Moon. My prognosis is that this person will be returning to the planet to continue working on their unresolved karmic material.

Seven Years of Weblogging!

It has been seven years since I started this weblog site, My Sacred Journey on WordPress.com. My webmistress, Lisa Gray, recommended this online venue as a way to bring me out of my shell and to write more. She was so right about this opportunity. After all this time, it has grown stronger and has become a special part of my life where I can share with the world.

My Sacred Journey weblog incorporates many of my interests, including Tarot, my course offerings, my annual Tarot Tour and Tarot Retreat, counseling skills, spirituality, and many more. Have fun viewing my slide show photos from my many adventures. Look up people and topics in the “Search” box.

Around the same time this weblog launched, I had joined Facebook and began to explore this social networking site. One of the first group activities I participated in was this challenge….”25 Random Things About Me” for which I added this weblog post.

I just reread my thoughts in this 2009 stream-of-consciousness experiment and realized all the things I have accomplished…wow!!

  • Not only do I write a monthly weblog post here, but have published two books and write regularly for two of the most popular Tarot magazines.
  • The post on my hair is my most visited page on this weblog site.
  • I have written several articles on this weblog about Tarot Counseling, a style of Tarot work I have developed and successfully promoted around the world.
  • My Tarot school and certificate course finally went online two years ago, now with 17 webinar and other recordings, some of them free on Global Spiritual Studies.
  • Coming out of my Forest Mystic Closet – now I travel to Tarot conferences and Tarot Meetups on my annual Tarot Tours, teaching and visiting Tarot friends around the world. My 10-year commitment to offering this service is halfway completed with exciting new destinations in the works for the coming years.
  • Returned to my photographic artwork and created two Tarot cards for two separate deck projects and had a piece in the Tarot Art Show in Portland this year.
  • Have my own YouTube channel, “SacredRosePro” where I post short videos I produce.
  • Started a podcast with Gina Thies, Oracle Soup, which draws from my years with radio. In addition, I have had the honor of being the guest on a variety of podcasts produced by others.
  • Put my drumming and beadworking on pause for now due to my commitment to Tarot.

To find easy links to my various media products and appearances, please visit the “Media” page on my TarotCounseling.org page.

Palliative Care and Petite Lenormand Cards

Last week I presented a paper as an independent scholar at the Popular/American Culture Association (PCA/ACA), located in Seattle, WA this year. Emily Auger created, facilitates, and hosts a panel in this scholarly venue under the umbrella of “Tarot and Divination.” Christine Parkhurst was the panel chair for “Contemporary Practices: Body, Mind, Spirit” where I presented research I have been developing since 2013 on Palliative Care Applications for the Use of Petite Lenormand Cards. The following is excerpted from my paper.

Death-little_boat

Have you been in the presence of a loved one as they died? Did you feel helpless at times to comfort them or understand their needs?

This is an emotionally charged situation that few can prepare for and many actually avoid. It takes a huge heart to be with the pain and suffering of those who we wish were at peace in life’s difficult times of transition.

As a hospice volunteer and Death Midwife/Death Doula I have had the honor to spend time with a variety of people as they faced their final days or hours. They have taught me so much about precious life and ultimate release. As the hospice helper, it is my job to care for the comfort and bodily needs of the patient, some invalid, others in a coma state. Of course, care can include emotional and spiritual support as well.

Palliative care is medical attention designed to support people with serious illness or near death. Medical and health professionals provide relief from the symptoms and stress associated with the patient’s condition with the goal of improving quality of life for both the patient and peace for their family and friends.

I propose expanding the palliative care team to include readers who use tools such as “Petite Lenormand” cards to aid in communicating with the patient to determine their needs and provide clear directives for improving quality of life.

Patients who are in an altered state do not have the capacity to communicate using their conscious mind. Because of this, alternative ways of communicating with coma and near death states utilizing intuitive and psychic awareness and tools are invaluable.

Questions that one may ask the patient can include:

  • Can you hear me?
  • Are you in pain?
  • Would you like to listen to music?
  • May I hold your hand?
  • Do you want to be alone for now?
  • Are you ready to be removed from life support?

Oracle cards, such as Petite Lenormand, are applied in linear, logical ways to express messages, much like in a sentence. Health questions and timing are common details built into reading these cards. I would first test for consistency in your chosen medium. A major consideration is the ethical and accurate data you receive.

Unless you are a health professional, I would resist making any prescriptive readings for ethical reasons. Predictive readings do not assist the client with their needs in the moment. I find that descriptive readings combined with a yes/no focus can be profoundly accurate and helpful.

I encourage you to consider cards as not only guides to the betterment of our lives, but also to love and support the care and well-being of others in their time of crisis and need—including animals, nature, and other beings that can not speak for themselves.

An additional post I have related to this topic:
Hospice Care and Communication through Cards

Significance of Significators

$

They say the best way to learn something is to try to teach it….so true!!

After over 40 years of studying Tarot, I truly enjoy learning more, such as during research for my Reader’s Studio 2016Study Group topic, The Significance of Significators. When I created this presentation topic I thought it would be fun to introduce new and advanced Tarot students to the multiple reasons and ways to work with signifying cards in readings.

I really wanted this to be a comprehensive study of this technique so I set out to review many of the books in my metaphysical library as well as check out articles on the subject of significators on the internet. What is amazing is how much I already knew as well as things I had forgotten, plus some interesting new perspectives I’ve gathered from others.

CelticCross-Significator

Here is a quick outline of topics I explore, combined with handouts and exercises for many of these techniques as we go through them together in the workshop:

  1. What is a significator: a card or cards selected to represent the personality of the querent or the focus of the reading.
  2. Reasons for using signifying cards before or during a reading.
  3. Ways of identifying a significator before the reading:
    1. Technique
    2. Intention
    3. Intuition
    4. Random
  4. Types of cards and ways to use them:
    1. Tarot cards: court, majors, minors, full deck
      1. Classic — physical characteristics, Arthur Waite style
      2. Personality — elements, intuitive impression of the client
      3. Contemporary — court card interpretation
      4. Male/Female — masculine / feminine
      5. Random — shuffle and select
      6. Symbolic — symbol in card connects with querent
      7. Movement & Direction
      8. Astrology — appearance, sun sign, birth date
      9. Numerology — birth date
      10. Kabbalah — courts on Tree of Life, Four Worlds
      11. Psychological — Myer-Briggs
      12. Spreads — signifier card placement in various spreads
    2. Playing cards
    3. Petite Lenormand cards:
      1. People cards
      2. Object cards
      3. Location cards

There is certainly more to this vast topic—a work in progress. Look for highlighted links for some of these techniques as I create detailed posts over time.

Is Tarot Only for Answers?

$
0
0

There is an assumption of many that working with Tarot is always based on a question-answer dynamic.

I would like to pose an alternative point-of-view.

What if working with Tarot was taken out of the context of reading for answers to questions—moving away from the anticipated predictive or informative hunt for the who-what-why-when-where answers of this contractual agreement? To do this, we need to bring our focus into the present, the Now, instead of forecasting the future based on events from the past. Basically, asking a question is a call and the answer or reading is a response….call and response…action and reaction…cause and effect.

Someone is reading this and already going into the thought that a desire for self-enrichment is still an inquiry into the cards, such as “How can the cards enhance some aspect of myself or my life?” So let’s simplify this exploration more, moving further from expecting satisfaction of our inquiries.

As Marshall Rosenberg expressed in his teachings about Nonviolent Communication, we all have needs, uniquely expressed through our individual character. These are our motivating forces and the roots of our emotional responses to life when our needs are meet or unmet. For example, if I need food but I’m in a location where food is not available, I may become anxious. If I am in a cold environment and I am sitting close to a fire, I can feel content for my needs for safety and comfort are being met.

These needs can be divided into at least seven basic categories: autonomy, connection, physical well-being, integrity, play, peace, and meaning.

We could have a long and interesting discussion about the fundamental contrast between needs and desires and I could certainly embrace a variety of views, but for the sake of this exploration, I would like to differentiate the satisfaction of a need from the longing for a desired outcome. I am purposely not addressing the spiritual definition of desire in terms of longing for oneness with God/Goddess or the Beloved, for I am placing that concept into the needs category…meaning.

Of course, satisfying needs, such as companionship or safety, is what drives most querents into Tarot readings, but addressing certain needs are not necessarily in the form of questions requiring responses—action taken with an anticipated reaction. Please allow me to share examples of what I am proposing.

I may have an essential need for visual beauty in my life and am particularly drawn to the artwork in a special Tarot deck. My impulse is to display these cards in a way that enriches my life, not as a response to a lack of beauty, but as an enhancer. Again, not from a perspective that something is missing or needs to be found, but, rather, icing on the fabulous cake that I am already enjoying. The art stands on its own and has no message about future or past perspectives, yet may transmit a message in a moment of synchronicity. Note the release of expectations.

Enrique Enriquez promotes a wonderful practice, what I call a “walking meditation”, where life can imitate Tarot cards, or visa versa. The curl of a palm frond may be reflected in the curve on a Marseille Tarot card, as in the “Two of Pentacles.” There was no question and the synchronistic connection stands on its own—whether there is meaning or not, be it a spontaneous coincidence or a resonance with nature.

In other words, there was no seeking for this connection, yet there was an openness to recognizing it the moment it appeared.

This can be extended into the chaos of connecting with people as well. When we release the longing and effort to connect with others and replace it with openness to opportunities as they arise, just being present in the moment with no preconceived agenda for filling our desire for a particular type of relationship, natural magic happens. We release the old structures that limit our access to new possibilities. We become more authentically ourselves for we release expectations and attachments to a particular outcome, a limitation in itself, especially in our personal presentation or energy.

Now, let’s take this opportunity for connection into our relationship with the cards (or whatever oracle you choose). When we pay attention to the meaningful potential that is already present in each card, we can play in the present, dance or delight, rebuke or condemn, but always with an open attitude of exploration with our friend, the Tarot. Perhaps associations to our past or future freely appear. In that moment what transpires is a gift, not an answer to a question.

Additional ways of relating with the Tarot include meditating on the image of a card. Meditation upon a sacred image is a technique promoted in many spiritual traditions. Since most meditation is a form of stilling the mind and facilitating guidance for our thoughts, these is no seeking, unless that is your expressed purpose for the meditation. And again, connections and messages can appear, but may not be the intended outcome of the meditation.

But what about actually reading the cards? Can there be no question or attachment to outcome when approaching a reading? I would say there is, again, depending on your attitude and expectations. We can embrace what is called “Beginner’s Mind” in Zen and other Buddhist practices, where we clear ourselves of any attachment or expectation and just turn the card over with curiosity and presence, suspending our interpretation of the card, being absolutely in the moment. This, too, is like a meditative practice for it requires managing that part of the mind that craves answers and wants to put concepts into recognizable boxes.

Beginner’s Mind and presence are qualities that I endeavor to embrace and promote in my Tarot practice. Less emphasis is made on asking questions or receiving answers, but more on the process of relating with the cards, their energy and essence, and gleaning any meaning that may be useful in the moment as guidance, not as prediction or mandate. It is an open relationship with the cards where they are free to explore whatever they like as we dance together in mutual enrichment.

Profiling Candidates using Tarot Numerology

$
0
0

It’s October 2016 and US citizens are just weeks away from electing new representation, or re-electing incumbent candidates. Tarot Numerology is an ideal way to profile candidates to determine their core gifts and challenges in office, and in life.

In 2008 I created a weblog post about Barack Obama who had just been elected president of the United States of America. Here is a link to that post.

I would like to briefly examine each of the major four presidential nominees (in alphabetical order) and a few words about each archetype in the role of president.

Hillary ClintonDemocrat
Born: October 26, 1947 (68)
Life cards: Empress and World/Universe (shadow = Hanged Man)
— Clinton is a mother and has a great deal of compassion, as well as a powerful voice for women around the world. She has worldly awareness, experience, and could be a caring leader if given that opportunity. What she continues to work on is her ability to sacrifice ego and other attachments to the material realm. Her world, and as president, our world, would likely be turned upside down, again (2001), unless conscious sacrifices are made.

Gary JohnsonLibertarian
Born: January 1, 1953 (63)
Life cards: High Priestess and Judgement (shadow = Justice/Balance)
— I find it fascinating when a male leader appears with a feminine archetype. These are the same archetypes that propelled Obama to his presidency. The qualities of listening deeply and not rushing to take sides is an excellent skill for negotiations. With the Justice/Balance cards as shadow challenges, weighing both sides and making judgment calls will be viewed as a weakness for this candidate, much as it has been with Obama.

Jill SteinGreen
Born: May 14, 1950 (66)
Life cards: Chariot (shadow = Tower)
— Stein as a Chariot is a mover, shaker, and social activist, especially when she embraces her Tower potential to transform. Chariot people are visionaries who put their ideas into action with the understanding that all they touch changes. This scares most people, preferring their comfort zones and thus Stein’s energy triggers their resistance.

Donald TrumpRepublican
Born: June 14, 1946 (70)
Life cards: Emperor and Fool (shadow = Death)
— Stating the obvious, Trump is the quintessential Emperor. The question to ask for his presidency would be whether he utilizes his fatherly/leadership skills to uplift others or overpower them. I touch upon this idea briefly in another weblog post….here. My observation is he has played his Fool card in the way he wears his hair and in his reality TV persona….”You’re fired.” Even his campaign persona has been impulsive, in the moment with no thought of consequence. Add to this Trump’s relationship with Death…surrender, endings, bankruptcy, ego release. All these qualities were present in his answer in the October 19 debate to the question about how he would respond to the election results. How would you judge his progress with his shadow challenge?

Of course there is so much more I could write on this topic, including year cards that represent the path ahead for each candidate. Please feel free to read the linked weblog posts for more information on this topic.

If you would like to learn more about using Tarot Numerology as a powerful profiling technique, please check out my 2-part webinar, “Pathworking with Tarot Numerology” on Global Spiritual Studies.

Fascinating profile additions:

Donald Trump’s astrological birth chart – What I notice immediately is all personal and most collective houses are occupied with no relational houses activated. From my personal point of view this explains his lack of social and interpersonal skills. His Sun is in Gemini, thus his reliance upon talking about his ideas and dreams (Neptune).

i025734-xel69ijkzccsqeuxgbx7ea-c2atw-250

Jill Stein’s astrological birth chart – A fellow Taurian, no wonder I like Dr. Stein, plus we are both Chariot “activists.” Her sun is in the 10th house and shows her leadership qualities and earth-based values. Mercury is almost conjunct, but mostly expresses her ability to communicate to the collective about her core values, a message which expresses her concern for the collective. What stands out for me as well is her Chiron (Wounded Healer) in the house of Leo trine to Pluto in Leo in the 12th house, which gives me the impression that her leadership is a karmic calling for healing the collective, sort of taking her medical/healing calling into the next dimension. A mostly well-rounded horoscope, she has her share of squares (tension, stress, obstacles) and trines (flow, harmony). For another interpretation of this chart, please check out this webpage.

iPhemerisChart-29.png

Gary Johnson’s astrological birth chart – (no image) Governor Johnson’s chart is incomplete, lacking a time of birth. There is a focal point with the conjunction of Saturn and Neptune in Libra, which might be interpreted as having a restricting influence on his dreams, something he must constantly balance, and may be challenged when it comes to making decisions. This personal tension is echoed with the opposition between his Capricorn Sun and Cancer Moon, the archetypal father and mother, respectively. Keep in mind, his Tarot Numerology also revealed this “shadow” challenge with Justice/Balance. For a view of his chart, please check out this webpage.

Hillary Clinton’s astrological birth chart – strongly occupies four quadrants, roughly a bucket distribution, but has many squares (tension, stress, obstacles) with some trines (flow, harmony). But look at her first house!!! Lots of Scorpio in the 1st house (Aries) to get things initiated, but where does she go to complete what is started? Second significant sign is Leo in the 10th house (Capricorn), her paternal instincts, including her Mars. Don’t get me started on her Mars-Pluto conjunction in Leo….oye. For another interpretation of this chart, please check out this webpage.

Going Pro as a Reader

So…you’ve been studying Tarot and/or other oracles for awhile, feel confident about your basic card knowledge, and are curious if you are ready to share readings with others. Taking that next step and trusting your blossoming abilities is inevitable, but deserves a great deal of preparation and direction. Following are some basic considerations.

Before putting out your shingle, I recommended that you focus more on experience and practice, practice, practice. Drawing on the willingness of your friends and family to experiment with while honing your style of reading, then developing a reliable repertoire of spreads and tools for various topics will better prepare you for working with the public.

A key question that comes up for most newbie readers is whether to provide typical fortune-telling style readings, or something closer to what I call Transformative Tarot Consulting™. Of course, some readers offer both and beyond. Once you know what your preferred style of reading is, it will boost your confidence for working with clients.

When you have your spread and reading style established, I urge you to consider developing your counseling skills and ethical guidelines for your practice. This will improve the delivery of your service, while aligning with the legal and ethical guidelines and rules expected in your area of practice.

Below I have a list of recommended resources for studying these skills, best backed by practicing with the above mentioned friends and family….bless their little hearts.

Finding an advanced class, workshop, or conference is an excellent way to get personal supervision or experience. Engaging in mentoring sessions with a teacher who best matches your professional goals is ideal. For example, I offer Skype, Facetime, Facebook video, and phone mentoring sessions for students all over the world and customize each session to a topic that meets the goals of my client.

Last, have fun and be true to yourself and your personal goals. Be willing to ask yourself each step of the way, “Is this me?”, to make sure you are following your own path and not what you imagine is expected of a reader. You’ll be pleasantly surprised to discover where following your inner guidance leads you as a professional reader for the tools of our art can facilitate our greatest teachings.

What are Archetypes in Tarot?

$
0
0

Volumes have been written about archetypes as this term has become well embedded in our modern vernacular. But, do we really understand the meaning of this word as intended by its originators?

Most of us in the world of psychology think of Carl G. Jung, Swiss Analyst and Psychiatrist, as the influence that promoted the idea of archetypes, with many books and articles on this topic. In this article I will share some  quotes from Jung as he describes his understanding and use of the concept of archetypes, then I will apply this to our use with Tarot cards.

We often associate Tarot cards, especially the Major Keys, with Jung’s idea of archetypes…an idea borrowed from ancient Greek philosopher, Plato, which he described in the following ways…Platonic “forms” or “absolute essences.” I define these archetypal forms as neutral constellations of characteristics that form a recognizable pattern that repeats throughout life.

Jung’s short description is “Psychic Instincts” and “forms without content”, while Mary Greer has associated archetypal images to our “Psychic DNA.” (GlobalSpiritualStudies.com, 2016)

Forms without content is a concept that many people find challenging. It is like a box, but it is plain and empty until you or someone adds personality or expression to it. This simple form or essence is the opposite of creating an interpretation, as is the tendency with many Tarot readers.

03In Tarot, we think of each card as an archetypal image, for example, Triumph “III The Empress” is considered to be the archetypal mother figure with characteristics, such as giving birth, creativity, nurturing, unconditional love, abundance, femininity, etc. While one’s personal experience with their mother-figure in life may not actualize the most positive representation of this archetypal form, there is fluidity and diversity in the expression of each absolute essence. Again, the empty container of the mother archetypal form is filled with the personality of each unique mother.

04If “III The Empress” is the archetypal form for mothers in the world, then what absolute essence is represented by “IV The Emperor”… …fathers. Where a reader may be tempted to apply negative characteristics to this card in a reading, the archetypal form itself is neutral. By understanding the archetypal form for each Tarot card, it can be a shortcut to memorizing the essence of each card. My recommendation is to stick to the unembellished facts and allow the client to fill in the details from their own knowing.

It is rare to find a reference to Tarot cards from Jung, but this jewel stands out…“If one wants to form a picture of the symbolic process, the series of pictures found in Alchemy are good examples, …It also seems as if the set of pictures in the tarot cards were distantly descended from the archetypes of transformation.” C. G. Jung, The Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious (#81), (1959).

New “Webinar” Website

Since 2013 I have had great fun creating and sharing a wealth of my knowledge by producing live and recorded webinars on Global Spiritual Studies (GSS), an online metaphysical school of sorts.

Much like writing a book, these creations take a great deal of research and writing, with the benefit of many visual illustrations to support the lessons. With Tarot and other oracles as the main topics, imagery is an important and powerful way to reach students to instill rapid understanding of the topics, something I find more challenging when limited to only writing. I’m known for packing a lot of information into just over an hour of webinar time with many topics rolling over into two webinars.

My webinars show a display of me on video speaking directly to you beside an enlarged view of my PowerPoint (PP) presentation. You receive not only a copy of the PP slides, but many additional handouts. Throughout the webinars there are exercises and opportunities to practice what is being taught. All you do is put the recording on pause, try the exercise, then resume when you are ready. Wish I could have done that back in college with my teachers, HaHa. And…you can watch the recordings as many times as you like!

As an added bonus, there are some free audio, video, and webinar features to give you a sample of my work, accessed directly from the GSS website.

Last, but not least, the webinars I have created are designed to compliment each other, addressing novice, advanced and professional level topics for practitioners of Tarot and other oracles, such as Lenormand.

For example, here are three titles that truly build upon each other and represent a complete set of in-depth and meaningful Tarot work:

  1. Sacred Journey of Your Soul – Through the Major Arcana of the Tarot
  2. Psychological Challenges in the Tarot’s Major Trumps
  3. Pathworking with Tarot Numerology

Also available in my webinars are two bundled series of webinars, one designed for beginners, while the other for professional readers, or those interested in learning the more esoteric side of Tarot and oracles:

For the advanced learner who is interested in the symbolic depths of Tarot and reading, I highly recommend these two unique offerings:

Please visit my new website which gives you easy access to learning about my webinars. If interested in more information or purchasing the webinars, there is a link to the GSS webpage for each choice. There you will find the prices and can add items to your shopping cart.
